Assicurazioni Generali
Assicurazioni Generali is an insurance company, that was established in 1831 in Trieste, that then was a part of the Austrian Empire.
Today it’s the largest insurance company, but is also represented in other countries, som who also were a part of the Austrian and Austro-hungarian empires.
The Jewish controversy
A controversy after the second world war, around life insurances of murdered Jews, was dropped. Estimates said that 110.000 Jews had had a life insurance policy at Assicurazioni Generali, but according to court papers only 5.200 had been payed out to heirs.
An episode of Law & Order, called “Blood Money” was inspired by the controversy.
